A plain-English guide with an example. See how a wedding helicopter is arranged, from first enquiry to landing.
Photos are representative and don't show a specific operator's aircraft.
The groom arrives by helicopter near the venue, then walks or rides the last stretch.
A farewell flight from the venue to the new home, or to an airport or hotel.
Move the couple or family between ceremonies, such as temple to reception.
Guests land at the airport and reach a farmhouse or resort in minutes.
Share the wedding date, the venue and city, where the helicopter should start and end, and how many passengers.
We suggest a helicopter by passengers, luggage, distance and weather. Single-engine suits most short hops. Twin-engine suits bigger groups or longer legs.
The operator inspects the landing ground and arranges owner consent and district intimation. See the permissions section below.
Fix a landing time with a buffer for weather and rituals. The operator confirms pilot briefing, arrival time and crowd control with the family.
The quote lists helicopter, flying time, landings, waiting time, permission charges and GST. You pay only after the operator confirms in writing.
Often not included: decorations or flower arrangements, ground crowd control, extra waiting time, venue charges and any local fee. Ask us to list these in your quote.
A short local hop, such as a baraat entry or vidaai within the same city, usually starts from about ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,50,000 plus 18% GST on a single-engine helicopter. This is a starting range, not a fixed price. Longer flights, twin-engine helicopters, several landings, waiting time and positioning from another city cost more.
Helicopters can land only at approved aerodromes and helipads, or at other suitable ground with the right consent. For a wedding, the usual position is:
Skipping permission can lead to police action. In one widely reported 2020 case in Andhra Pradesh, police booked the operator, passengers and the person who allowed the landing after a helicopter landed at a school ground without district permission.
Reviewed October 2026 against the Ministry of Civil Aviation HeliSewa FAQs. Rules change, and this is general information, not legal advice. Always ask the operator to confirm in writing what permissions they have taken for your venue.
Yes. The operator must hold a valid DGCA permit, and the landing ground needs the written consent of its owner or custodian. Under Ministry of Civil Aviation guidance the operator also informs the district administration, and the district can refuse on safety or law-and-order grounds. Some states and venues add local conditions. The operator handles this, and we ask for written confirmation before you pay.
Helicopters fly only in safe conditions, and the pilot has the final say. If weather stops the flight, the operator offers a later slot or a refund as per the terms in your quote. Keep a road backup for the groom's party and plan a buffer in the schedule.
Most single-engine helicopters carry about 4 to 5 passengers, fewer with luggage or in hot weather. Twin-engine helicopters carry more. For a baraat entry, most families book one helicopter for the groom and one or two relatives. The operator confirms the exact number.
As early as you can, ideally 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding and earlier in peak wedding months (November to February). Landing consent and district intimation take time, and helicopters near your city are limited on popular dates.
It follows the operator's terms, which we share in writing with your quote before you pay. Charges usually rise as the date gets closer, and weather cancellations are handled as per those terms. See our Terms and Cancellation page.
Flights are operated by DGCA-approved operators with licensed pilots. The pilot checks the landing ground, wind and crowd control before landing. A safe landing area is kept clear of guests, decorations and vehicles, and the pilot can refuse a site that is not safe.
The helicopter type, flying time, distance from the operator's base (positioning), number of landings, waiting time, date, landing and permission charges, and 18% GST. Short local hops cost much less than a transfer from another city.
The venue or family provides a suitable open ground with the owner's consent, and the operator inspects it. Local police or the venue team usually help keep the area clear. We explain exactly what is needed once we know the venue.
